I knew this guy was going to waste me but damn!
My 04 is modded but that Kaw is one hella fast ski. It's huge by the way, I believe 10+ feet and over 1000 pounds.
I believe the new technologies put into hull design is the key factor. Sure the 260 hp helps but my 04 has beaten a few 220hp seadoos so I think these new hull designs are the key.
At 60mph I was getting my butt beat up by the waves, the Kaw driver was just slicing through the waves like a knife going thru butter.

I have a stock 2005 that used to wind up to 7100 rpm and would top out around 70. This year it would not rev past 5600 rpm, didn't sputter or run bad, just would only rev to 5600. I had one honda shop look at it and replaced a solenoid which allowed me to get boost, but now it only revs to 6200.

6200 rpm is right in the ballpark for a stock Honda (turbo F). 7100 and 70 mph?!?! Are you talking about the R or the F? (There's no way a stock Honda was doing 70 mph.)

that is sort of what Sport honda said when I took it in for service. This year it would not rev past 5600 - To make a long story short - they replaced the "boost solenoid" and now it revs to 6200 and does about 68. My GP1200's do about 60 on a good day and the Honda would flat out run away from either one of them the first year.
The 2009 Honda 1500 turbo is dead even with my 2005, even running slow as it is.

You must mean 68 on the speedo. A stock Honda F-12X will run about 60 mph on GPS. A stock Honda F-15X will run about 65 on GPS. If your 12 is keeping up to a 15, there must have been some work done to it.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, It used to do 7100 rpms and top out (by speedo reading) at 70. It easily out ran my GP1200's which only read 60-61 on flat water. This spring on it's first run would not rev past 5600. This is stock honda. The dealer was not able to get it to rev over 6200 but they replaced a boost solenoid on top of the throttle body because they discovered that it was not making any boost. Runs out to 6200 and tops about 68. Gets outrun from stop by 09 1500, but side by side, I can easily pace the 1500. Honda dealer said they cant get my extra 800 rpm back and told me to be happy with it.
