I'm a newbie and just bought a 1992 Yamaha Waverunner. When I took it out for the 1st time it ran just fine. Problem was when I turn right, the jet ski turned just like should. When I turn left...at made MUCH wider turns. At 25mph a right turn took 12 ft or so, a left turn took over 50 feet.

When I got it out of the water I checked the steering to see if the jet at the back turned as you might expect. It turn freely in both directions (and at the same angles).

What should I check??

Thanks so much for your input.

Check the housing ay back to make sure it has no cracks.

If not then have one person turn to right and hold and another person try to move the housing in the rear repeat turning to the left.

Thanks DAN01. After checking I find that the nozzle simply does not turn as far when making a left turn, which explains why left turns are so wide. So now my question is:

How do I correct this? Is this a simple adjustment? Could there be some object inside the hull preventing the steering from fulling affecting the nozzle? Do I need to remove the bottom panel (ugh)?

Thanks so much for your input.
