Hey all, please let me know if this is in the wrong place.

I just rented a jetski and after about an hour the nozzle (whatever directs the impeller thrust left or right) stopped pointing left so I was sitting in the water. On the way back towards shore the linkage broke completely and I could not steer at all. It took about 60 minutes for the rental place to come get me. All the while, the jetski started sinking lower and lower in the water. I jumped off and floated alongside when I couldn't stay mounted without the back submerging completely. I never rolled it over. The only time water came up high on the ski was during sharp turns.

The rental guy kept saying I must have flipped it which never happened. Is he trying to screw me? They said "they'll see" if I will get charged for whatever was wrong with it but I think there was some other problem that screwed me once I had to stop moving due to the steering issues. Could it be my fault? Or was there another issue that the rental place is hoping to blame on me?
