Looked through all starting problem posts but haven't seen fuel mentioned.
Have a 97 gp760 with only 60 hrs on it. Bought this year. Always hard to start, yesterday it wouldn't start. Getting spark, plugs wet with fuel, new plugs. Cranked like crazy but never fired. Happened upon some snowmobile techs who said the ethanol in the gas may be causing the problem. They advised to add a bottle of Marine Stabil with every tank and check fuel filter. Any thoughts?

I have a 97 gp760 as well. Yamahas are supposedly notorious for being hard starters but I have experienced this very little. When starting, pump the choke a few times and then leave it pulled out. Crank and pump the throttle keeping in mind that you may flood the engine if it does not turn over (don't crank longer than 5 sec at a time) Also, make sure that the fuel filter is filling as it should (half way) is new for the season and is right side up. If the filter isn't filling it is likely that it is clogged, you can try turning it upside down to start it to ensure it's not an engine issue.
Hope that helps and good luck!

The snowmobile guys were rightabout Ethanol being the problem. Added StaBil marine and it started after about the fifth try.
