VX mods?

i have an 08 vx110 and was wondering if anyone has done any mods to these things with results? i have done a few little things like aftermarket intake, silencer delete, removed the baffles in the water box, and modified the intake grate.... im really wanting to try the r&d grate and solas 18/22 impeller, but would like to here some reviews before spending the $$$.... and i know the story... its an "entry level" ski... im not concerned about that, its what i have and i want to make it better :)

Ok, well I guess I will have to be the tester.... Just ordered the r&d grate and solas impeller, built a water box delete, also gona try to modify the throttle body to a larger size of even try to install the FX quad throttle body, and gona take the sponsons off for atleast a ride to see what exactly they do

guess im talking to myself here, but i also pulled the throttle body the other day, and im gona attempt to bore it out here soon, but also discovered a very restrictive looking metal mesh in the intake manifold behind the TB, so a new intake is on its way to see if i can safely remove the mesh

here are the pics of the intake, the mesh in the intake manifold, and a very poor quality shot of the exhaust, witch sounds amazing, but is almost a bit too loud

here are a couple more shots of the exhaust and a quick vid of a start up, but it was done with my phone so i dont know if the sound quality will be there

well everything is installed, and so far it is well worth it, gps'ed at 56 mph, with choppy water and over 1/2 tank of fuel, no problems at all and it gets moving a lot faster with a much better ride
Seems there's not alot you can do to really boost top speed, what is your 0-30mph time? Stock is what 2.8 seconds? I'm good with stock top speed but would like to get there a little quicker.

im not sure what the 0-30 time is, but its definatly a lot better than stock, but still not really enough, i'm thinking maby an r&d anti cav cone? some say they help out alot on acceration. and it seems i have a lot of "slip" from a dead stop

my buddy has a 1500 sea doo, he is stock except for one of my exhaust systems, he can jump about 20 ft ahead of me from a stop, but top speed we are dead even, i would like to get the acceleration just a little better and maby 4-5 more mph and i would be happy, but i dont know if it is possiable

How did you get this (i think it's called the ribbon) out from the piece it's attached to?

and doesn't your intake get wet from riding the ski? on mine it's looks like water splash's in around that location.

basically i used a small chisel, hammered it thru till i got that small piece off, then i was able to roll the rest of it out, do not attempt this with the manifold installed! it is very easy to take off but you will get metal piceses in the engine if you dont remove it.

no problems at all with water in the intake, i ride it very hard and sometimes have a couple inches of water in the hull, after 40 hrs with this intake on, i see absolutely no sign of any water making it into the intake, also if there is a concern, they do sell water resistant coners for these filters, but i see no need, a little water wont hurt them anyway, the only real concern is enough water to cause a hydro lock, heck i have 3 very large injectors in the intake manifold of my pick up spraying water :D
guess i am a party pooper, but the bottom end in that engine is not designed to handle more power. I can send pics of a rod hanging out the side of a vx motor later. the water box is designed to create back pressure, it is supposed to be there. and your sponsons being removed will make it difficult to steer. removing bars from your stock intake grate can allow the pump to load up to quick on deceleration and become uncontrollable. Just an opinion but your going about this the wrong way.

Ok.... I can show u 100 pics of bone stock engines with a rod hanging out, things happen, a water box isn't designed for back pressure, its designed to keep water out of the engine, tho back pressures can change how an engine runs, what I did to my exhaust makes it run a and sound a lot better, the sponsons was just a thinking out loud idea because I wanted to knw what they did, and now I know, removing the bars in the intake grate really made it nothing more than a r&d grate without the wing, so highly unlikely that overstuffing will be an issue and was not one, but because u were so quick to criticize, u didn't read that I also bought and installed a r&d intake grate, I have also tested all these things, and I have been running these things for a while now with no problems, I'm not a noob at performance things
Hi hoping this is still active. I made all the changes as seen above but I actually lost power. I get up for 8,000 rpm’s but can’t get my ski over 36 mph. Any reason this could be ?
