I recently acquired a 96 waveraider. It would not turn over. I was told that the bearings in the impeller were probably bad based on a conversation the previous owner had with a mechanic. I pulled the impeller and was able to get the engine to turn over. When I separated the impeller from the housing it was evident that the impeller was scraping hard on the housing, not in random areas it is more like the impeller is to big. When I run my finger around the housing it feels wavy, high spots and dips in the housing. The clearance between the impeller and the housing is not consistent. How much clearance should there be? What might have caused this issue? Does this problem sound like I need to replace the bearings?
