Hi,

I have a 2008 Yamaha VX1100 with about 17 hours on it. Recently it started exhibiting a problem: if I turn the engine on, and then hit the throttle hard, the engine dies. It restarts no problem, and I can give it some throttle (maybe up to half throttle), but if I open it up quickly, the engine dies.

Once the engine has warmed up for a few minutes, the problem seems to go away.

Has anyone heard of this before, or does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong? I'm bringing it in for service but I'd like to get a second opinion from the forum, since I won't be able to actually try the jetski out again until the spring.

Regards,
Jeremy

My first guess would be bad gas or debris in a fuel injector. I'd try a fresh tank of high octane fuel, with some injector cleaner dumped in first. Yamaha makes a product called Ring Free Plus that I run in every tank. It will clean out the inectors and remove carbon build up........good stuff. I also run it in my boat outboard.

The VX is pretty bullet proof. Its probably something simple.
