what type to buy?

I am trying to figure out which jet ski to buy... I know nothing about them yet but am learning... I'm looking to spend around $2000 for a used one with 750cc or over.. I have seen plenty on craigslist and they are all around 1997 in years old.. Is that too old for a jet ski? What year should I be looking at? I like to ride fast of course and be quick and nimble.. Also be able to ride 2 people including myself.. I think the 3 seaters are probably too big and bulky.. I just need some advise... Thank you
