Motor swap!?!? Yamaha 650 motor in a WaveJammer

I was thinking of swapping the motor from a 1991 Yamaha Waverunner 650 into my 1988 Wave Jammer 500. Does anyone know if its a direct bolt in or is there some modifications I'd need to do? I own both, so I should have all the parts needed to make the swap complete, i.e. motor, electrical, mid shafts, etc.

if anyone has done this please let me know!

Thanks,
Dave

I think they will swap. You may have to adjust the short shaft in the housing (not more than 5mm). But change everything. Carb, elec, exhaust etc. In saying that, its not hard to put a 650 top end on the 500.

What would I have to do if I were to just swap the top end of the 650 onto the case of the 500? Are the jugs a simple bold on swap? The reason I ask is that the 650 needs a stator as it sits. If I can just swap the top end off the 650 onto the 500 case, would I need to do anything different to the electrical system?

Also, isn't the 701 a common swap with the 650? If that's the case, would it be possible to do a swap with a 701 into the Wavejammer if I had a donor jetski?
