Hi, I have 2 2017 Yamaha Ex Sport waverunners. A few weeks ago I put the batteries back in both machines and one of them had a check engine light. I didn’t start either of them since I brought them back from winterizaton (at the dealer). I took it back to the dealer service area and dropped them off. They called and said that the engine was overheated last time it was ran and needed to reset the code. They must have overheated it during winterization.

My question is, dosent just the water temp light come on and not the check engine light when overheated? And why dosent the check engine light turn of when the engine cools down?

I can't answer your question, but I would do a compression check on them when you get them back or have them make sure they are both running correctly.
