Post VX Cruiser HO - Hole in the engine block

HI - Hope somebody has some thoughts on this. We had a couple of older rental stock vx cruiser we purchased that were absolute rock stars, ran great zero problems. After several years we decided to upgrade and the guy we purchased the orignal Waverunners had a couple of 2017 VX Cruiser HO's he sold to us at a very reasonable price. These units had less than 20 hours each on them. Finally got to take them out and started out to be really fun, until while cruising atn a relatively slow speed, 40 KPH or so my PWC made a rather unfortunate noise then crapped out.

Took it out of the water to find the bilge full of oil and a hole in the side of the block. Not sure what caused it, but it appears to be a thrown rod. I can understand if we had run them really hard without oil, but that was not the case. O)f course Yamaha is saying too bad its out of warranty. 20 hours and the engine blows up????

We are pursuing Yamaha to get a replacement.
Any ideas on a replacement short block?

Cheers

May be able to go through "pwcengines". But without a core it's going to be pricy if they'll even do it. You'll have to call them. Or purchase one directly through Yamaha.
what motor is in it? I just saw somewhere that had like 3 crate motors for sale.
If it's a tr1 there is a complete motor from a 16 vx for $3200. In the parts for sale add on pwctoday pg 7.
