1999 gp1200 ground wire

Hello Forum
I purchased a 1999 Yamaha gp1200 project.
Rebuilt the engine and got it running.
There is a 6" long black wire that has 6mm eye on one end and a 8mm eye on the other.
I have the service manual and cannot figure out from the wiring diagrams where (what I assume is a ground wire) this wire goes to and from.
Anyone have a gp1200 that can advise me?
Thanks

Usually the ground wire runs directly to one of the starter mount bolts.

Thanks for the reply.
This wire is only 6 inches long and 12-14 gauge size.
Yes, the much larger gauge ground wire from the battery bolts to a starter bolt.
I am wondering if this short wire grounds the aluminum plate behind the engine that houses the coil packs and starter relay to the engine?
