How to flush an engine that won't start

Hello everyone,
I have a 2005 Yamaha FX Cruiser HO. The engine will not start and I still have salt water in it from the last ride. Is there any way to get the salt water out and possibly flush or add salt away? If not how long can salt water stay in there before my engine is toast? I thought about just running the hose but someone told me that will blow the seals. Not sure if that would even work if the engine is not running.
Thanks

No it wont blow seals. What happens is water backs up in the exhaust and can then back up all the way through the exhaust manifold. The only possible way I can think of at the moment is to remove the water box so any water that comes out of the pipe will dump into the hull and have the tongue of the trailer up as far as you can get it so water drains and has less chance of flowing uphill to the engine, and you might have to pull the thermostat. I would check with a reputable dealer or shop first.
