I know for a fact it won't work on the 64 bit software, and this applies even to the latest version 1.33. You will have install a 32 bit version of windows XP (it might work on a 32 bit version of Windows 7, because I know that the newest version does), and set up your system to do a dual boot, or find a different computer to run it on. I've not heard of a work around, but someone with more computer savy may have a different answer.

The only way that you might be able to use the 64 bit windows 7 os to run this software is if you upgrade to professional and download xp mode right from Microsoft. The upgrade can be purchased in any retail computer store for 89.99 and the download is free for xp mode but there is no guarantee that this will work but probably your best chance other then running xp.

If you do your own maintenance and repair work, and own multiple machines, then I'd say its worth it. Here is some of the stuff it records:

Engine speed
Intake pressure
Intake pressure
Throttle position sensor 1
Throttle valve opening (0-90)
Throttle position sensor 2
Accelerator position sensor 1
Accelerator position sensor 2
Atmospheric pressure
Atmospheric pressure
Ignition timing
Battery voltage (12-16)
Fuel injection duration
Engine temperature (below 130)
Engine temperature (below 266)
Intake temperature
Intake temperature
Ex.manifold water temp. sensor
Ex.manifold water temp. sensor
Engine stop lanyard switch
Overheat thermoswitch
Slant detection switch
Oil press switch
Engine start switch
Steering sensor
No-Wake mode switch
Cruise assist switch
Cruise assist up switch
Cruise assist down switch
Reverse switch
Main relay
ETV relay
Fuel pump relay

In addition there are many diagnostic tools: you can operate the fuel injectors, fuel pump, ignition coils, look at the cylinders individually, etc..

You would have to take a laptop along for the ride if you want to record operational conditions, but I know several guys that have done it. It can help trouble shoot problems, and in many cases identify potential failure points before you would see a code or symptoms on the ski. Unfortunately, it does not allow you to modify the ECU, or alter setting on the ski through the software.

Price used to be around $400 for the software, cable, and adapter needed to run it. The entire system has been on back order for over 9 months now for US dealers. Rumors say that Yamaha is redesigning the cable to work on the newer high performance outboards as well as PWCs. Right now I only know of one place (Canadian dealer) that has it in stock: YAMAHA YDS DIAGNOSTICS Unfortunately, they want over $500 for the system, so they have really cranked up the price. I'm still waiting for state-side dealers to get it back in stock.
